DigNA Prague: Portfolio Projects Gather for the Second In-Person Meeting

On 2 June 2025, the nine projects in the DigNA portfolio – PEARL-DNA, MI-DNA Disc, DISCO, DuraStore, DNAMIC, DiDAX, TextaDNA, NEO, and HYPERION – gathered for a full day of scientific and technical discussions. We were pleased to be joined by EU EIC Programme Manager Isabel Obieta Vilallonga, who organised and guided the meeting, and Project Officer Carlos Casorrán Amilburu.

The event featured a lively panel discussion on the commercialisation of DNA data storage, with insights from David Landsman (Western Digital), Olivier Lauvray (Biomemory), Robert Grass (ETH Zürich and DiDAX project), and Tomaz Karcnik (BioSistemika & PEARL-DNA coordinator). Throughout the day, consortium members participated in interactive working group sessions, shared updates on their progress, and collaborated on shaping the future of DNA-based storage.

Among the many highlights were poster presentations, including Marthe Colotte’s “Fifteen years of real-time stability data at room temperature: validation of encapsulation for sustainable biobanking,” and discussions led by our partners Tomaz Karcnik, Tjaša Stare, Rok Luzar, Marthe Colotte, Jörn Glökler, and Margaryta Schaltegger.

We thank NEO and Jaroslav Kočišek, as well as Isabel Obieta Vilallonga and everyone involved, for making this collaborative event a success.

We look forward to continued collaboration with all DigNA portfolio partners to advance sustainable DNA-based data storage. Stay tuned for updates on the Strategic Plan and joint activities ahead!
