European Commission Vice President Visits TH Wildau

A High-Level Visit Recognising EU-Funded Innovation

On 9 October 2025, Raffaele Fitto, Executive Vice-President for Cohesion and Reforms at the European Commission, and Daniel Keller, Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Protection of the State of Brandenburg, visited Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau (TH Wildau) campus in Wildau, Germany. Together, they learned about EU-funded research projects at TH Wildau, including PEARL-DNA. The visit was an important occasion for both the university and the federal state of Brandenburg, marking the first visit by an EU Commissioner to the region in five years.

PEARL-DNA and EU-Funded Research in the Spotlight

During the event, Prof. Dr. Marcus Frohme, a member of the PEARL-DNA consortium and Head of the Senate at TH Wildau, was part of the official welcome delegation. In his presentation, he highlighted the university’s broad engagement in European and national research initiatives, featuring PEARL-DNA among other key EU projects.

Dr. Jörn Glökler, another PEARL-DNA consortium member from TH Wildau, contributed to the event by presenting a dedicated PEARL-DNA roll-up banner. It featured the project’s vision, details and partners, giving the visitors an overview of the project’s goals and its relevance to European innovation.

Strengthening Connections for Future Collaboration

The visit provided valuable opportunities for dialogue and networking between university researchers, policymakers and representatives of the European Commission.

“Personally, for me, this event was especially great because of the many inspiring new contacts” said Prof. Dr. Marcus Frohme.

The event showcased the strength of European-funded research at TH Wildau and reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between regional innovation ecosystems and the EU’s research and innovation agenda.
